Natural Plus Energy Bars include some of the world’s healthiest nuts and seeds:

•	Almonds – Loaded with minerals such as magnesium, calcium, phosphorus and zinc. They contain lots of healthy fiber and are one of the best whole food sources of vitamin E, in the form of alpha-tocopherol, which may help prevent cancer.
•	Sesame seeds – Contain powerful antioxidants called lignans, which are anti-carcinogenic. They also contain phytosterols, which help to reduce cholesterol. Not only are sesame seeds a very good source of manganese and copper, but they are also a good source of calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorous, vitamin B1 (thiamin), zinc, dietary fiber, and healthy (monosaturated) fats. Eating sesame seeds may help lower cholesterol, support vascular and respiratory health and provide relief from rheumatoid arthritis.

•	Peanuts – Twenty years of dietary data collected on 80,000 women from the Nurses' Health Study shows that women who ate at least 1 ounce of nuts, peanuts or peanut butter each week had a 25% lower risk of developing gallstones. Peanuts contain the flavonoid resveratrol, (which is also found in red wine), other antioxidants, phytosterols, phytic acid (inositol), and folic acid, making them heart-healthy, and a good way to reduce your risk of stroke, and possibly even cancer.

•	Cashews – Cashews are high in antioxidants and are a good source of monounsaturated fats, copper, magnesium and phosphorous. Eating cashews promotes good cardiovascular health, even in individuals with diabetes.

•	Pumpkin – These seeds provide anti-inflammatory benefits for people with arthritis and are heart healthy. For men, pumpkin seeds may support the prostate and help to keep bones strong. Pumpkin seeds are a good source of essential fatty acids, potassium, phosphorous, magnesium, manganese, zinc, iron, and copper, protein, and vitamin K.

Although nuts and seeds provide numerous benefits and are an excellent source of protein, many people still avoid them for fear of weight gain. A prospective study published in the journal Obesity shows such fear is groundless. In fact, people who eat nuts at least twice a week were much less likely to gain weight than those who almost never eat nuts.
